Thank you to our event hosts:

Far Away Eyes

StMcC presents battle of the bands

The battle here was on the Dylan song entitled, "Make You Feel my Love."

The challengers: Adele versus Bryan Ferry...

I voted for Bryan Ferry because I wanted a soulful sounding male singing to me. Ha! Oh well. Most of you wanted a soulful sounding female... glad I could assist. :)

Who won? Who lost?   >Drumroll....O oOo oOo...

Adele  @ 11 votes
Bryan @   5 votes

Thank you to everyone who voted. I apologize for attempting to close when the vote was 11 - 3. I hated to see Bryan get his tail kicked. It wasn't his fault he got challenged by a sensational, soulful sounding female. (grin)

Your interest in joining this blogging event would be most welcomed. Please go to Stephen T. McCarthy's blog, leave your name and blog link in the comment box!

NEXT BATTLE DATE: Wednesday, April 1st... Hope to see you then. (smile)

Once again... Adele...

When Poetry Rocks ~ The March 15th Battle of The Bands (Battle 6)

A young girl sits among four trees, waiting on the angels to appear. In her backyard sanctuary she writes lines of love and happiness, and lately lines of sadness. Her babysitter committed suicide; she doesn't have answers. Those three angels visit her for many months. One watches - smiling. The second - looks straight ahead. The third angel is writing in a book. She sees them , wonders if they know, that she sees them?

From that time so long ago, until now, I've always loved penning poems. At that age I didn't know it was called poetry. Until recently I didn't know the work, of Robert Zimmerman, (aka, Bob Dylan), was poetry either. To me he was a folk/rock musician with a scruffy voice, and provocative lyrics. My apologies, Mr. Zimmerman, (smile).

Today's song:  "Make You Feel My Love" ~ Bob Dylan - Lyrics and Composition:

  • Dylan: "I consider myself a poet first and a musician second. I live like a poet and I'll die like a poet."
  • "Make You Feel My Love" is a song written by Bob Dylan that appeared on his 1997 album, Time Out of Mind.
  • In 2008, he became the first Rock musician ever awarded a Pulitzer Prize. He was given the special award for his "profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power."
There's an impressive list of artists who've brought this song attention. I wondered which two would embrace those lyrics? Which two would give us a look into the heart of Dylan? In his original recording, he played the piano, backed up with drums, and one guitar. Neither artist I chose actually plays an instrument on their recording. Yet their accompaniment is simple. I can only hope that Bob Dylan, and you the voters, will find these two artists quite expressive of his wonderful poem. Please vote for the one you like. Comments are welcome :)

Today's Battle Challengers ~ from the UK:  Adele versus Bryan Ferry (Yes, Bryan's up again!)

      "Make you Feel My Love"

When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love

When evening shadows and the stars appear
And there's is no one to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love

I know you haven't made your mind up yet
But I would never do you wrong
I've known it from the moment that we met
There's no doubt in my mind where you belong

I'd go hungry, I'd go black and blue
I'd go crawling down the avenue
      There ain't nothing' that I wouldn't do
To make you feel my love

The storms are raging on a rolling sea
And on the highway of regret
The winds of change are blowing wild and free
You ain't seen nothin' like me yet

Make you happy make your dreams come true
      There ain't nothin' that I wouldn't do
Go to the ends of the earth for you
To make you feel my love.
